A great day to be a kid in Flora and Madison County (Pictures and Video)

Saturday was a great day to be a kid in Flora and Madison County. Temps were less stifling than earlier in the month, and there was plenty to do.

Fun in Flora set for August 28th

The annual Fun in Flora will be August 28th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM in front of Flora UMC.  The theme for this year's festival is "Building for the Future by Focusing on Christ".  There will be the ever-popular silent and live auctions.  But this year, there will also be a raffle for a 2 night stay for two at Monmouth Plantation in Natchez. Raffle tickets are only $5.00 per ticket!  This year's festival, as in years past, will have a variety of opportunities for kids with games, a space jump, a water slide and a rock climbing wall.

Live gospel music will be provided by local groups and individuals. A chicken plate lunch will be served with all the fixings from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM.

The Morning Circle will sponsor a Country Store with homemake baked and canned goods and homemade ice cream. Organizers hope to also have the Flora Fire Department fire truck on site and Fire Department Officials to discuss fire safety with children.

"This is a great event for our church and community," said Harold Miller, who is heading up the event this year for Flora United Methodist Church.

The proceeds will go to the building fund and missions.
