Is Black Support for Obama Racist?

 With poverty at an all-time high, daunting black unemployment levels and Obamacare threatening black babies, black support for Barack Obama remains surprisingly strong.

Why?

Blacks are not uniformly as radical as Obama. So why do 91 percent of blacks still support him when only 79 percent of his Democrat constituency does?

It’s a black thang.

Again, why?

Some say Obama’s support comes from “black solidarity” — that birds of a feather flock together. That is racist in itself. After all, imagine if white voters similarly lined up in “racial solidarity.” This is compounded by the facts.

Under George W. Bush, black unemployment was actually lower than during the Clinton years and much lower than the 16.3 percent it is today. Under Obama, black unemployment rose from 12.6 percent to 16.3 percent as of August 1, 2010.

Despite promoting black upward mobility, Bush only enjoyed a black approval rating in the low 30s at a similar time in his presidency. Bush also made historic cabinet-level appointments of blacks and dramatically increased funding to fight AIDS in Africa. Much to Kanye West’s chagrin, President Bush did care about black people.

Furthermore, after nearly two years of Obama’s reckless spending, 43.6 million Americans (one in seven) live in poverty — a 51-year high. Blacks, who account for only 13 percent of the population, make up 22.6 percent of those now receiving food stamp benefits.

And, after a promise there would be no federal abortion funding in Obamacare, tax dollars for abortions may be provided through high-risk insurance programs in Pennsylvania, New Mexico and Maryland.

Polling shows blacks are overwhelmingly pro-life. We undoubtedly want jobs and freedom from poverty. So why the blind loyalty to someone who hasn’t delivered?

When a constituency clearly provides loyal support, as blacks are to progressives, it begs to be taken for granted.

So is it any wonder that, after 50 years of conceding support to liberals and letting Uncle Sam be their “baby daddy,” we are mired in an anti-empowerment culture of dependency?

Liberals can argue racism causes black stagnation, but is a 70 percent illegitimacy rate among blacks (90 percent in some inner cities) due to racism or a lack of accountability and personal responsibility? It’s also a painful truth that blacks kill more blacks (by gun, unhealthy lifestyle and abortion) than racists could ever accomplish.

So-called “civil rights leaders,” pseudo-intellectuals and liberal lawmakers must know this, yet they insist on pretending racism is more responsible for sluggish black advancement than behavior they foster.

It’s time for a frank discussion about the folly of black Americans’ monolithic support of liberalism. When 91 percent of any racial group votes one way, it’s either out of racism or blind groupthink. Neither is good for America.

Christopher Coates, the veteran Justice Department voting section chief who recommended going forward on the civil complaint against the New Black Panther Party, was removed from his post and transferred to the U.S. attorney's office in South Carolina. New Black Panther Party members had disrupted a Philadelphia polling place in the November 2008 elections, one of whom intimidated would-be voters with a nightstick.
 




J. Christian Adams, the lead attorney in the case, resigned, citing what he called concerns about the Justice Department's refusal to prosecute the New Black Panther Party case after a federal judge in Philadelphia had ruled in favor of the government's case.


Mr. Adams accused Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. of dropping the charges for racially motivated reasons, saying that he and other Justice Department lawyers working on the case were ordered to dismiss it.

Class Officers Segregated By Race Mississippi school divides posts into black, white seats

Children running for class officer posts at a Mississippi public school are only allowed to compete for certain positions based on their race, according to a memo handed out last week to students.

The Nettleton Middle School elections are divided between offices pegged for black and white students, according to the memo, which was provided to TSG by a parent. The document was handed out to every student in the school’s sixth, seventh, and eighth grades, and it details the race requirements for each of four class officer spots (president, vice president, secretary-treasurer, and reporter).

A few days ago, according to blogger Suzy Richardson, Nettleton Middle School students brought home the above memo, which spells out the requirements for students who want to run for class office:

Of the 12 offices for which students compete, eight are earmarked for white students (including the three class president spots), while four are termed “black” seats. Middle school administrators have not returned TSG phone calls, so it is unclear how this policy was established, or whether the number of offices apportioned for each race changes annually. Additionally, it is unknown how children who are not black or white would run for student government offices.

Students seeking class office were directed to return their election applications, complete with the petition signatures of 10 classmates, to science teacher Jenny Payne by August 24. The Nettleton middle school has about 400 students, and about 72 percent are white, according to a source familiar with the school board's operation. The majority of the remaining students are black.

Students Kicked Off Campus for Wearing American Flag Tees

Freedom of expression or cultural disrespect on Cinco de Mayo?

On any other day at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, Daniel Galli and his four friends would not even be noticed for wearing T-shirts with the American flag. But Cinco de Mayo is not any typical day especially on a campus with a large Mexican American student population.

Galli says he and his friends were sitting at a table during brunch break when the vice principal asked two of the boys to remove American flag bandannas that they wearing on their heads and for the others to turn their American flag T-shirts inside out. When they refused, the boys were ordered to go to the principal's office.

"They said we could wear it on any other day," Daniel Galli said, "but today is sensitive to Mexican-Americans because it's supposed to be their holiday so we were not allowed to wear it today."

The boys said the administrators called their T-shirts "incendiary" that would lead to fights on campus.

"They said if we tried to go back to class with our shirts not taken off, they said it was defiance and we would get suspended," Dominic Maciel, Galli's friend, said.

The boys really had no choice, and went home to avoid suspension. They say they're angry they were not allowed to express their American pride. Their parents are just as upset, calling what happened to their children, "total nonsense."

"I think it's absolutely ridiculous," Julie Fagerstrom, Maciel's mom, said. "All they were doing was displaying their patriotic nature. They're expressing their individuality."

But to many Mexican-American students at Live Oak, this was a big deal. They say they were offended by the five boys and others for wearing American colors on a Mexican holiday.

"I think they should apologize cause it is a Mexican Heritage Day," Annicia Nunez, a Live Oak High student, said. "We don't deserve to be get disrespected like that. We wouldn't do that on Fourth of July."

As for an apology, the boys and their families say, 'fat chance.'

"I'm not going to apologize. I did nothing wrong," Galli said. "I went along with my normal day. I might have worn an American flag, but I'm an American and I'm proud to be an American."

The five boys and their families met with a Morgan Hill Unified School District official Wednesday night. The district and the school do not see eye-to-eye on the incident and released the following statement:

The district does not concur with the Live Oak High School administration's interpretation of either board or district policy related to these actions.

The boys will not be suspended and were allowed to return to school Thursday. We spotted one of them when he got to campus -- and, yes, he was sporting an American flag T-shirt.

How ironic is it that White Supremacist Richard Barrett dies from the hands of a black man that he had been HELPING?

White supremacist found stabbed, burned in home. McGee had performed yard work for Barrett, Pennington said.

McGee had served five years of a six-year sentence for simple assault on a police officer and grand larceny when he was released on probation in February from the State Penitentiary at Parchman.

He is being held in the Rankin County Detention Center. His initial court appearance will be Monday.

A photo on his Facebook page shows off numerous tattoos associated with the Vice Lords street gang.

Pennington said McGee was arrested after investigators obtained a search warrant based on evidence they spotted under the carport of his parents' home. Pennington did not elaborate.

Witnesses told investigators Barrett had gone to McGee's home around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to pay him for yard work.

Richard Barrett dies in house fire

RANKIN COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - Nationalist Movement founder and leader Richard Barrett was found dead in his home this morning following a fire.

A neighbor spotted the fire at Barrett's home around 7:45 this morning and called the fire department. When they responded to 227 East Petros Road, in Rankin County, they found smoke coming from inside the house and Barrett's body inside.

Several law enforcement agencies are on scene, including the FBI, but no one has said if foul play is suspected.

The Nationalist Movement is a white supremacist group Barrett founded after moving to the Magnolia State in 1966. He's also run unsuccessfully for Governor and Congress.

In 1994 he spearheaded a movement to get Governor Kirk Fordice to pardon Byron de la Beckwith, who was convicted for the 1963 murder of Medgar Evers.

UPDATE: Man arrested in death of Miss. white supremacist

PEARL, Miss. -- Authorities says a white supremacist lawyer found dead in his house had been stabbed, beaten and his body set afire.

Pennington said 22-year-old Vincent McGee has been charged with murder. He said additional charges could be forthcoming, including arson.

Pennington said Friday that a preliminary autopsy showed Barrett had been stabbed multiple times in the neck and had blunt force trauma to the head. The sheriff said 35 percent of Barrett's body had been burned.

With nothing left to say Dems cry, "Racism!"

This is an interesting article on Democrats use of race over the years. Today's Democrat Party is not necessarily the party of of its forefathers in a lot of ways, same goes for Republicans. But, one thing is true for certain Dems today are just as quick to label someone an agitator as they were in Wallace's day. While the line this article draws through history makes it worth a read, there is a 900 pound gorilla in the room when it comes to the future of the same racial agitation and claims of bigotry. That future is one that will no doubt see attempts by Democrats to push, wheel and deal for amnesty for illegal aliens.

HARTWELL: Democrats reek of George Wallace Tea-bagger epithet just the latest example of liberals' hate hypocrisy

Charges of intolerance are leveled routinely at those who question the administration's policies. To listen to the accusers, one would think the entire history of racial discrimination and discord in this nation were properly laid at the feet of Republicans. History teaches otherwise.

I grew up in the Deep South, a John F. Kennedy Democrat. My parents taught me that, as Martin Luther King would say later, people should be equal before the law, judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin. Of course, that was not the prevailing view at the time, when racial discrimination led to separate schools, theater seating and water fountains.

The shameful politics of racial division were practiced skillfully by the demagogues of the day. They were all Democrats. If you're of a certain age, you'll remember, among others: Georgia's Lester Maddox, of ax-handle fame; George Wallace of Alabama, who stood in the schoolhouse door; Harry Byrd of "massive resistance" Virginia; and the everlasting Sen. Robert C. Byrd of West Virginia, who, along with Sen. Al Gore Sr. of Tennessee and other Democrats, filibustered against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 for 57 days.

It was the Democratic Party that conceived, implemented and perpetuated the pernicious system of racial discrim- ination and preference that arose early in the last century and finally crumbled in the 1960s. They did this in order to sustain their own power. It worked for them, but not for the people. The Jim Crow system not only was morally reprehensible and responsible for much injustice over many years, but also clearly retarded economic growth. This hurt whites and blacks alike for decades.

As of 1963, the Republican Party had a long record of support for civil rights legislation - not so the Democrats. Republican support for the major civil rights legislation enacted during the presidency of Lyndon B. Johnson was stronger than that of the Democrats.

More than three times as many Democratic senators (21) as Republicans (6) voted against the Civil Rights Act in 1964; in the House, the "no" votes came from 96 Democrats and 34 Republicans. In both chambers, greater percentages of Republicans than Democrats supported both bills, by significant margins. For example, 82 percent of Senate Republicans voted for the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as opposed to 69 percent of Democrats; for the Voting Rights Act of 1965, 97 percent of Republican senators voted yes, versus 74 percent of the Democrats.

There was a time when majorities in both parties (even if narrower among Democrats) endorsed the equal treatment of all Americans, without regard to race. Public opinion shifted heavily and quickly in the same direction, perhaps because the moral and rational case was compelling. As sociologist John Shelton Reed wrote, "During the three years 1963 to 1966, support for de jure segregation became a minority view among white Southerners. The percentage of white Southern parents who completely opposed public school desegregation, for example, dropped from 61 to 24." That was a dramatic shift in a short time. It was permanent, too, the death rattle of Jim Crow.

Sadly, however, the ascendancy of "colorblind" politics in the Democratic Party was fleeting. The Democrats were the masters of racial patronage; with hardly a hiccup, they took the game to another level. Where once they played on the fears and prejudices of whites, they found new "victim" constituencies to "protect" with pledges of government largesse and favoritism.

So, blacks and perhaps Hispanics, among others, became the new and increasingly dependent beneficiaries of racial preference. Other "peoples of color," such as Indians and Asians, perceived as intent on self-reliance, generally were not among the favored. Thus, the same old game resumed, with a cynical new arrangement of pieces on the playing board. Once again, the Democrats sought gain through divisive means, playing on fear and resentment.

Then as now, opponents were attacked personally. For a Wallace supporter, it was easier to brand someone as an "agitator," or worse, than to engage in a substantive discussion about the virtues and vices of racial segregation and discrimination. Better to smear the opposition, especially when your position on the merits is weak.

Today, many Americans are unhappy that Congress has enacted, in a dramatically partisan fashion, sweeping "health care" legislation that entails unprecedented federal interference in doctor-patient relationships, an array of new and higher taxes, and unsustainable increases in government spending. Similarly unwelcome are the union sweeteners, the student loan takeover and the "expert" panels that will restrict access to medications and treatments.

Perhaps most outrageous is the (underreported) fact that our "ruling elite" have exempted themselves from the regime being imposed on the rest of us. If it's such a good thing, why do you suppose they carved themselves out of it? In sum, there are a multitude of grounds on which Americans oppose Obamacare.

In response, the Democrats revert to Jim Crow tactics: Change the subject via personal attacks. They hurl accusations of "racism," and use the vulgar sexual innuendo "tea-bagger" to assail fellow Americans who oppose the administration's aggressive expansion of federal power.

In fact, in all of the issues raised by the dissenters, there is not a trace of race. Would people be equally concerned if Hillary Rodham Clinton were in office and moving forcefully to implement the same agenda as President Obama? I think so. Or, would people march in protest if a President Colin L. Powell or Condoleezza Rice were pursuing more moderate policies? I think not.

While everyone is watching closely the recent moves by the administration with respect to offshore drilling and thinking Cap and Trade deals, Senator Chuck Schumer with the help of wolf-in-Republicans-clothing Senator Lindsey Graham are looking toward Immigration "Reform". As presented, the Schumer-Graham framework emphasizes more border security, a guest worker program, the expansion of the controversial E-Verify employment eligibility system, the introduction of a biometric Social Security card, and a “tough but fair” path to legalization for undocumented residents. Of all the things the framework hopes to do, it is the path to legalization that holds the most benefit for Democrats.

So, expect the cries of racism to increase. No doubt followed by Al Sharpton making his normal rounds.

Wal-Mart customer: 'I can't go back in'

Victoria Arter was outraged when she heard the announcement over the Wal-Mart loudspeaker.

"Attention, Wal-Mart shoppers," she said a male voice announced. "All blacks need to leave the store."

"We waited and waited. Some people just left their carts in disgust and said they couldn't believe it," Arter told Philly.com, a CNN affiliate.

It was busy shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday at the Turnersville, New Jersey, Wal-Mart Supercenter.

Arter, a 29-year-old assistant bank manager who is black, didn't know what was going on, but she was not happy. Neither were other customers, who began dialing their cell phones and demanding answers from managers. Some were just quiet, still in shock at what they'd heard.

A few moments later, a store manager got on the public address system and began apologizing and contacted the local police.

This week, authorities have said they're investigating the episode as "a suspected bias intimidation crime."

JSU announces plans to denigrate the memories of Civil Rights Veterans by bringing in Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee

Jackson State University has announced that Rev. Jeremiah "goddamn America" Wright and Congresswoman Sheila "race pimp" Jackson-Lee will be guest speakers at the Veterans of the Mississippi Civil Rights Movement Conference. According to the press release the 3-day conference is "designed to inspire and empower today’s youth through social activism education."

Inspire and empower to do what? 

The good Congresswoman famously ignored a white cancer survivor during an August town hall meeting in 2009 by answering her cell phone from behind the podium. Wright has made a living out of some black Americans desire to remain oppressed, while milking his fifteen minutes of fame for being Barack Obama's pastor.

Just when recent moves suggests JSU wants to become a socially acceptable choice for all Mississippi students, they pull this crap!

The fifth annual conference, themed The Loss of Civil & Human Rights in a Time of Economic Crisis: Creating a Blueprint for the Future!, will be held March 25-27 at the Mississippi e-Center @JSU, 1230 Raymond Road in Jackson.
Now one of the largest annual gatherings of civil rights veterans in the country, this event brings together civil rights activists with today’s youth to discuss ways to continue positive change in society.

Among the special guests this year are the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, pastor emeritus of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Ill; U.S. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX), civil rights leader and Algebra Project founder Bob Moses; University of Maryland government and politics professor Ronald Walters; and Greenville, Miss., Mayor Heather McTeer Hudson.

Wright will be the keynote speaker for the Veterans Freedom Gathering at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 25, at the JSU Student Center Ballroom, which is located at the corner of John R. Lynch & Dalton streets in Jackson. Wright also will sign copies of his book, SANKOFA MOMENT-The History of Trinity United Church of Christ. Congresswoman Jackson-Lee will be the keynote speaker for the JSU Presidential Banquet at 7 p.m. Friday, March 26, at the JSU Student Center Ballroom. Moses, Walters and Hudson will speak throughout the three-day conference.

Having begun in 2004 with small gatherings, the Veterans of the Mississippi Civil Rights Movement became an official arm of Jackson State in 2008. In addition to collecting and archiving stories of some 200 participants in the movement across the country, the group supports people actively using those stories to continue the pursuit of freedom, justice and equality.

“We are trying to be true to our reason for being,” said Owen Brooks, executive director. “This conference, like others, will allow an exchange of ideas and engage participants in discussions regarding issues that are important to them.”

Topics include: “The Impact of the Financial Crisis on HBCU’s,” “The Political Economy During the Obama Presidency,” “Advancing the Civil Rights Agenda” and “Creating a Blueprint for the Future: Interracial, International, Intergenerational.”

A special tribute to the late Jimmie Travis will be given by long-time activist Bob Moses. Travis passed away in July 2009 and was the chairman of the Veterans of the Mississippi Civil Rights Movement at the time of his death.

Admission to the conference is $100 for adults, which includes admission to all events. College student registration is $25 and high school registration is $10. The registration fee includes one-year membership to the Veterans of the Mississippi Civil Rights Movement.
