OPEN THREAD SOUND OFF: Did State Auditor address Madison Countians concerns?

State Auditor Stacey Pickering's time on the Gallo Radio Show this morning was all about the ongoing calls for a procedural audit in Madison County. He implied that an investigation has been ongoing for some time. While the discussion went on for the majority of Gallo's City/Metro Hour, Pickering didn't elaborate much more than that, saying to give status updates to the people of Madison County would jeapordize the investigation. He said that concerns brought to light by a recent independant investigation were not a surprise, but added that some of those concerns had now been turned over to the Ethics Committee for further review.

Did you listen to the interview?

Are you satisfied with the response by Pickering?

Was this, in your opinion, too late in coming? Or was it simply a matter of leading a responsibly quiet investigation?

  1. Pickering seems to be an upstanding and honest guy. Some of this is simply trusting the person we put into office. But, after what Madison County has been through with the shenanigans of Tim Johnson, Rudy Warnock, Paul Griffin, and Karl Banks, it's no wonder they have a hard time trusting.

  2. I understand the need for secrecy with an ongoing investigation, but doesn't it stand to reason that requests from a public official should be answered? Based on the statements of some, their requests went unanswered for months!

  3. How in the world could the Auditor have a clue as to whether there were any illegal activities? No investigation has been conducted! He kept mentioning there were incredibly stupid and wrong decisions... why would so many "stupid" decisions be made if there was not underlying illegal activity?

State Auditor... Please, just follow the money like they did in Operation Pretense!

  4. The gist of the explanation means that he can at any point go back and say, "We were looking into it the entire time!" No one will know any difference if he doesn't have to confer with someone on the county level at some point. He could be running for Lt. Governor before anybody knows any different.
